October days

What is there not to love about October? Falling leaves and fall breeze, mild weather and deep blue skies, football season in full swing, baseball season at its most exciting…can’t get much better than that.

Besides the wonderful weather, October seems to demand good food. It’s almost like that terribly stereotypical, slightly overweight grandmother that invites you in to her table.

“It’s alright, honey. Eat up. I got plenty more food for you, too.”

When October invites me to her table of plenty–be it good food, good friends, or good times–I sit right down. ”Yes ma’am” seems the only appropriate response.

So here’s hoping that the leaves never leave and knowing that fall never fails. Get on out there, grab a seat outside, and enjoy yourself a pumpkin ale. Cheers!

This table-of-plenty happened to be at Trapeze Pub. The beverage above is a Smuttynose Pumpkin Ale, a clean, light seasonal brew that’s balanced and not too overwhelming. Check out the draught list, too. Hooray fall!

Oh, so close to home. I LOVE my stereotypical slightly over weight southern grandmother. She does the best dinner gatherings with leftovers that last months. “Honey, you just go get you a third plate.”
